The purpose of the course is to acquaint participants with major 29 CFR 1910 General Industry OSHA standards and answer questions about OSHA procedures. The course is taught (web delivered) by instructor(s) who have all worked in your industry and/or OSHA. This course is designed especially for productivity-oriented people such as managers, supervisors, employees and safety committees.
This 10 hour course follows the OSHA requirements for certification. On line, attendees will take a pre-class test followed by the instruction of required and selected OSHA topics. On line and at your leisure, learn from pictures to words to plans. Each section runs about an hour long and is filled with interactive photographs to promote safe actions. Students, off line, may practice using a fire extinguisher or choose sides in a legal debate against the OSHA Compliance Officer. Each training session is designed with examples of the work hazards that you are facing. Dr. Kearney optimizes class participation and learning activities directly. She will engage with you in a webinar process by being available on line to answer all of your questions. Help you with additional resources and even consult with you on special projects. This web-based session begins and ends with a pre and post class-examination, which is your documentation for receipt of OSHA General Safety & Health card & certificate. Dr. Kearney will submit all scores on your behalf and send cards to the appropriate address of your workplace for each participant.

The OSHA regulations require your program to include the items on the left side of the chart to be presented. In addition, 3 or more items from the right side must be presented. Lastly, you may pick up an additional 1 or 2 electives to complete the training requirements.

Discusses OSHA’s role toward helping to make workplaces safer. Includes description of OSHA, OSHA’s goals and mission, OSHA resources, OSHA Recordkeeping, OSHA inspections and how to deal with OSHA.
Walking & Working Surfaces – 1 Hour REQUIRED []
Explains OSHA requirements to prevent slips, trips and falls. Reviews requirements for general housekeeping, aisles, guardrails, wall and floor openings, platforms, stairs and ladders.
Means of Egress & Fire Protection – 1 Hour REQUIRED []
Discusses OSHA’s requirements for ensuring employees have a safe and efficient means of leaving a facility under emergency circumstances. Reviews requirements for your building and site and describes how to set up your emergency procedures.
Electrical Safety – 1 Hour REQUIRED []
Discusses the hazards associated with electricity and common electrical safety problems. Reviews frequent electrical safety OSHA violations.
Hazardous Materials :Flammable & Combustible Liquids – 1 Hour OPTIONAL 1 of 3 []
Discusses the hazards, safe storage and safe handling practices for flammable and combustible liquids. Reviews use of flammable storage cabinets and flammable storage rooms. Reviews grounding and bonding requirements.
Bloodborne Pathogens: – 1 Hour OPTIONAL 1 of 3 []
Discusses what employees should know about how to protect them from disease that exists in bodily fluids. Reviews proper personal protective equipment, containers, the meaning of labels and hazards associated with cleaning and management procedures.
Hazard Communication – 1 Hour OPTIONAL 1 of 3 []
Discusses what employees should know about the chemical hazards at the facility. Reviews container labeling, material safety data sheets, hazards associated with chemicals and employees rights under OSHA’s “Right to Know” rules.
Personal Protective Equipment & Hearing Conservation – 1 Hour OPTIONAL 1of 3 []
Discusses the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at your facility. Reviews hazard assessments and eliminating risks that would otherwise require PPE. Reviews PPE types such as gloves, eye safety glasses, face shields, aprons, hearing protectors and proper footwear.
Personal Protective Equipment: Noise PART OF PPE IF ENVIRONMENT REQUIRES []
This is a customized program which reviews the requirements of OSHA’s Hearing Conservation Standard including noise monitoring and audiometric examinations. This is customized to each industry and requires a request for its addition to your program
